The Harley Dyna subscription e-mail list Rules.

Like most people I don't like rules, so why have I created them for the Dyna list?

Well... put simply, not everyone has your best interests at heart, some scum make lots of money out of SPAMMING you. If you are like me, you probably are more than keen in shoving their Spam "where the sun don't shine", but until we track them down and hospitalise them, these rules may enlighten them to the errors of their ways.

IMPORTANT: I urge you to take a few moments to read the following rules completely and pay very close attention to them as it could mean the difference between being a list member OR being a former list member.

PLEASE NOTE: All sections with greyed-out text are under-going updates, but those rules are still current at this time.

WELCOME MESSAGE:
This forum is for enthusiasts of the Super Glide, from the 1971 FX through to the current Dyna Super Glides of today made by Harley-Davidson. This includes models such as the original Night Train, Low Riders, Low Glides and Wide Glides. The Sturgis and Daytona models, the Fat Bob, Street Bobs, Convertibles and Customs, as well as the Police Dyna Defender and the NEW 35th Anniversary Edition Dyna.

Ownership of any of these models is NOT a requirement for membership to this list AT THIS TIME. Although the primary objective of this forum is to network people for the purpose of sharing information on modifications and other technical aspects, while topics will NOT be limited to Dyna (or Super Glide) modifications, they MUST remain closely associated to Harley-Davidsons.

POSTING MESSAGES:
If you receive messages in Digest form, please take the time to trim off the non-essential text or the text which you are NOT replying to, otherwise it makes it complicated to read as well as tying up bandwidth for those who are limited to a dial-up internet connection.

On the other side of the coin, DO NOT delete ALL of the text from the post you are replying to, please leave enough of the previous text to provide continuity, otherwise people coming in late on the conversation will not know what you are referring to.

POSTING ADVERTISEMENTS:
Commercial advertisements are NOT allowed to be posted in the Harley_Dyna forum, all commercial advertisements may be listed in the Classified Section which is accessible via the main web page. If you own a commercial site and would like to put your site URL into your signature line that is fine with me. Please keep your signatures to a minimum amount of text. You are welcome to place a brief text advertisement along with a link to your web site in the Links Section of the Dyna list.

Members are more than welcome to post an advertisement in the forum as long as it is a private sale (a one-off sale for a single item, selling multiples of an item will be considered as commercial content and will be limited to the Classified Section).

Wanted Ads are permissible.

Posting an advertisement for any web site or forum which has been started in opposition to this forum is deemed as being rude and under-handed and will not be tolerated.

Posting a link to web sites which require financial membership, such as introduction agencies (or web sites for single bikers) are classified as commercial ventures and is NOT allowed.

If you have a product you wish to advertise and to have discussed in depth on this forum, please send a sample for testing purposes to both Aki and myself (Glenn) as well as a couple to "give away" to members for independent evaluation.

MODERATION:
This group will be monitored more than it will be moderated. I personally participate in the list and monitor every message which is posted to this forum.

Currently there are two moderators, Aki and myself (Glenn) and as we are on different continents, this provides us with the ability to monitor the forum almost continually around the clock.

In short, the general rules of Netiquette will be used on the list. Common sense and personal courtesy is the best policy to use within this community.

LIST TOPICS:
I encourage all list members to freely communicate general information and positive feedback regarding the Dyna as well as the negative problems that may occur. Modifications, ride reports and advertisements for used parts [1] are all acceptable. This list shall NOT be a "bitch list" for people that want to vent their personal frustration and I will do everything in my power to keep it from becoming one. This includes terminating any account found to be in violation of this rule.

SPAM:
Posting ANY form of SPAM will be IMMEDIATE GROUNDS FOR TERMINATING YOUR ACCOUNT. No warning, no reprimand, no nothing.

NON-TEXT (Binary) FILES: 
Firstly I would like to make it clear that I have blocked the ability for members to attach any type of file to messages, attachments are stripped from the message before the message is processed and emailed out to subscribers, this prevents members from receiving any type of virus or trojans from the Dyna email list. Please be aware that this does NOT prevent some low life from uploading an infected file into the Files Section, while we may scan the majority of files, we cannot police this 100% therefore I suggest that all files downloaded from the Files Section be scanned.

If you wish to upload files to share with other members, there is a "Files" section on this website that allows the list members to post their Binaries. As the Files Section become full, I will generally delete the oldest files first when space is needed.

Currently there are no restrictions as to the type of files uploaded to either the Files Section or the Photo Section, general rule of thumb is that they are at least motorcycle related.

To clarify one particular point raised, pictures of dressed, semi-naked or naked girlfriends (and/or wives) ARE permitted as long as it isn't blatant hardcore porn. Under NO circumstance will pictures of naked old geezers cuddling up to their Dyna in bed be permitted (even though it has Dyna content)!!

NETIQUETTE:
As a long time Fan of Harley-Davidson Motorcycles I find it in poor taste to publicly speak in negative terms about the Harley-Davidson Motor Company. Specific complaints will be tolerated as long as there is a legitimate basis for it. I ask you not to refer to dealerships as "Stealerships", "Stealers", or in any other disparaging manner. One bad apple does not spoil the bunch. If you have a specific complaint or bitch with Harley-Davidson Motor Company I suggest you take it up with them. DO NOT USE MY LIST AS A FORUM TO BITCH ABOUT THE Mo. Co. OR TO GATHER SUPPORT FOR YOUR OWN AGENDA. and as far as I'm concerned the above behaviour will be grounds for terminating your account.

 I will apply a stringent application of the stated rules, make no mistake about it. From time to time I will issue a "Message from the Moderator" which will be addressed to the general population of the list. These messages may be for any number of reasons. Whether to inform list members of a change in policy or any other information I feel is necessary for list members to know. It may be that a thread has wandered too far off topic in which case I expect my request to be met IMMEDIATELY. If not the offending parties will suffer the consequences, which will generally result in their account being terminated. It will remain terminated until such time that I feel the desire to reinstate the account.

The easiest way to lose your Harley_Dyna account is to engage in "flaming" someone. (i.e. to send an inflammatory message to them). There will be NO flame wars or personal attacks allowed on the list, or BECAUSE OF THE LIST. This includes off-list communications, which originally generated on the list. There will be NO SPAM (bulk, repeated, or unsolicited commercial e-mail) allowed on the list, or BECAUSE OF THE LIST. PERIOD.

The rules of Netiquette, common sense, and common courtesy will be used as a general guideline for this list and enforced without hesitation. Using those guidelines will earn you the utmost respect within this community. If a violation of the above Terms and Conditions happens to occur, depending on the severity, the offending party may or may not be given a warning, this is purely at the List Owners discretion. If I feel the violation was so blatant as to cause any list member personal grief or harm, either physical, emotional, real, or imagined, I reserve the right to terminate the offending person's account without any warning or notice whatsoever. If the offending party is given a warning and that person continues with their actions, their behaviour, or their conduct, on-list OR off-list, they will be immediately removed from the list without notice and will be banned from returning to the list until the list owner determines otherwise. A subscribing member's approval or disapproval status will be determined solely at the discretion of the List Owner. As the list owner I reserve the right to refuse any person or persons subscription or service for any reason, other than the provisions, which protect the public from discrimination such as colour, race, creed, religion, gender, sexual preference, disability, or any other protected group. This list is open to people of all countries but the official language of the list is English. ANY "off-list" activity which originates from this list such as personal or bodily threats between parties involved with this list, and/or problems that have originated from any topic or conversation on this list shall be considered a good reason to ban the offending person or persons from this list, which will be solely at the discretion of the List Owner.

PRIVACY:
ALL list subscribers' e-mail addresses are private and shall remain so. ANYONE that releases ANY e-mail address acquired from the list without prior written permission from the owner of the e-mail address shall immediately and without warning or due process be removed from the list and shall not be allowed to re-subscribe to the list. WARNING: NO exceptions to this rule shall apply.
